Traffic jams secure Israel’s “security” as streets of Silwan blocked again
Weekly Friday closures were instated around Jerusalem again today, with Israeli authorities stationing a series of checkpoints in several Palestinian neighborhoods, including Silwan. In what has become standard fare in Wadi Hilweh, the area’s traffic reached high levels of congestion as a result of Israeli soldiers’ stringent “security” checks on each Palestinian vehicle.

Firas Maraghy to finish hunger strike tomorrow
Silwan native Firas Maraghy has announced that he will conclude his hunger strike at 5pm tomorrow, September 4.

Silwan detainees released today
All 5 detainees arrested by Israeli military on August 30 were released today due to a lack of evidence linking them to involvement in the clashes that swept through Silwan on August 26.

Magistrates Court extends detention of child prisoner
The Israeli Magistrates Court decided today to extend the detention period of underage detainee Hamza Siyam, following his summons to Muskobiya Police Station in Jerusalem yesterday morning. He is currently being held in Prison, along with four detainees (including his two elder brothers) arrested on August 30.
