Sentencing the child Mohammad Raed Siam
Thursday, July 18, 2013 | 16:47
Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) —

The District court sentenced the 16-year old Mohammad Raed Siam for 15 months of actual imprisonment, and six months of suspended probation for three years.

Mohammad’s father explained that his son was arrested on the 19th of January 2013, and was detained in the cells of Al-Maskobyeh for 20 days where he was exposed to harsh investigation and psychological stress in order to get him to admit to the charges he was accused of; note that he was charged with throwing Molotov cocktails, firecrackers and stones on a settlement outpost in Silwan.

Mohammad’s father pointed out that a medical committee recommended the necessity to release his son because of his psychological status which resulted from the interrogation he had faced, but the prosecution refused the committee’s request and insisted on sentencing him. The lawyer also suggested not sentencing Mohammad in Thursday’s session because of his psychological status.

Mohammad was detained in “Hasharon” prison, and his arrest prevented him from continuing his school education.
