Israeli Knesset to authorize new home demolitions in Jerusalem
Sunday, November 14, 2010 | 00:08
Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) —

The Israeli Knesset will be holding a meeting next Tuesday, November 16, in order to give the Jerusalem Municipality the green light to resume the demolition of Palestinian homes in the city of Jerusalem, especially in the village of Silwan, just south of the Old City and Al Aqsa Mosque. Officials from the Municipality and representatives from the Israeli police will be attending the meeting.

This meeting was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, but it has been postponed until next Tuesday without taking into account that Tuesday marks the first day of Eid al-Adha, a religious event celebrated by Arab members of the Knesset, including Muslims and Druze. In the past, Arab MKs have repeatedly demanded of the Knesset not to schedule meetings during their holidays, particularly when discussing issues of importance to Palestinians.

It is nearly not believable. Is there nobody ashamed in the Knesset about that policy and stands up for the elemantary rights of people? How long will the world be watching these crimes to humanity, what we call ethnic cleansing, committed by the state of Israel? With solidarity to the people of Silwan, keep hope, Nadia Piette, Belgium
